Chez le bureau du docteur hier, lors notre rendez-vous regulier (à 28.5 semaines - déjà!), le docteur a remarqué que Christiane portait encore des talons-hauts. Yup, Christiane adore les talon-hauts, qui l'à font plus grande que que ses 5 pied 3-4 pouces... et les trouve necéssaire pour le travail.
At the doctor's office yesterday, during our regular check-up (at 28.5 weeks - already), the doctor noticed Chris was still wearing high heals. Yes, Chris loves high heals, makings her taller than her usual 5 feet 3-4 inches... and describes them as a necessity for work.
Elle est convaincu qu'elle pourra les mettre jusqu'à la 40e semaine... si seulement pour faire son point. On vera comment longtemps Jean-Michel attendra avant de s'en mêler....
She's convinced she can wear them until week 40... if only to make a point. We'll just see how long JM let's that happen...
Pouvez-vous croire que le prochain rendez-vous chez le medecin est à la 32e semaine??? Le temps passe tellement vite dernièrement.

Bédaine à 28.5 semaines / Belly at 28.5 Weeks
Voici finallement une photo de bédaine... à 28.5 semaines. Et comme Jean-Michel aime remarquer, la bédaine à Christiane s'étire maintenant plus loin que ses seins!

We had another one of our regular doctor's appointement today, and everything is going very well. Looks like last week's incident is behind us.

Baby Shower
Christiane a eu un petit baby shower hier avec trois copines et anciennes collègues de travail de ses jours à Statistique Canada. C'était vraiment plaisant, surtout qu'il n'y a pas de famille aux alentours pour marquer ces petits moments. C'était un après-midi de mocktails, de bonne nourriture et de bonnes conversations entre filles (ça fait du bien!). La nourriture et la planification à Lina était incroyable, Sue a fait des supers mocktails (et a même offerte de faire semblant d'être ivre juste pour rire et ne pas perdre l'ambiance) et Lois avait les meilleurs histoires et conversations... et nous a tous battu aux jeux.
Chris had a small baby shower yesterday with three of her friends and old collegues from her days at Statistics Canada. It was really nice, especially since there's no family around to mark these little moments. It was an afternoon of mocktails, great food and great girl-time (which was really nice!). Lina's cooking and hosting was just amazing, Sue made the best mocktails (and even offered to act drunk as a substitute) and Lois had the best conversation starters... and rocked at the games.
Et encore une fois, Christiane a oublié la caméra... donc pas de photo pour le blog, encore un fois. Mais un gros MERCI à Lina, Lois et Sue pour un bel après-midi, de beaux cadeaux et de la super bonne compagnie. Un petit peu comme du temps de famille loin de la famille... merci beaucoup, beaucoup. Ça m'a fait très chaud au coeur. Et aux femmes (ok, et aux hommes aussi!) de la famille et amies dans l'est du pays, j'aurais tellement aimé vous avoir là!!

Almost like a little pretend family away from family, thank you very very much. It really meant a lot to me. Au repos... encore / Home... again
Christiane est encore à la maison ce matin... et déjà écoeuré. Jean-Michel n'était pas impressionné de son idée d'aller travailler et Norm, le père à Christiane, à appellé ce matin pour faire sur qu'elle était à la maison, et l'a avisé qu'il rappellerait plus tard pour faire sur qu'elle était encore là. Très drôle.
Chris is still at home today... and bored out of her minded already. JM was not impressed she wanted to go to work and Norm, Chris' father, called her this morning to make sure she was at home, and advised her he would be calling later to check again. Very funny.
So NOT impressed to stay home right now.

Visite à l'hôpital... / Hospital Visit...
Christiane à passé une partie de la journée avec des docteurs hier... Tout va bien maintenant, mais quelle journée.
Chris spent a part of the day with doctors yesterday... Everything is fine now, but what a day.
Christiane avait des grosses crampes et un mal dans le dos en se levant hier matin. Après dîner, nous sommes allé voir notre docteur à la clinique communautaire, car le mal était constants, et même très douloureux à certains moments, et Christiane ne pouvait plus travailler. L'examination du docteur nous à soulagé un peu: le bébé bougeait encore beaucoup (et plus même avec tant de tapottage de bédaine!), le battement de son coeur était excellent, la pression à Christiane était excellente, pas de dilatation... mais avec la présence d'un peu de sang et du mal constant, le docteur nous à tout de suite envoyé à RUH (Royal University Hospital), étant un peu énervé lui-même. La panique nous a envahie à ce moment là et c'était pas mal inquiétant.
Chris had some pretty big cramps and a back ache when she got up yesterday morning. After lunch, we decided to go see the doctor at our regular clinic since the pain was constant and even worse at some times, and Chris simply couldn't work anymore. The doctor's examination relieved us a bit: the baby was still moving lots (even more with so much belly probing!), its heart beat was excellent, Chris' blood pressure was excellent, no dilation... but with the presence of blood et constant pain, the doctor sent us to RUH (Royal University Hospital) right away, being nervous a bit himself. Panic set in at that moment and we were pretty worried.
Après une petite gamme de testes, tous négatifs, les docteurs étaient un peu perplexe. Christiane était attachée à une machine pour pas mal longtemps ou on pouvait entendre le battement de coeur du bébé, tout en vérifiant pour des contractions. Pas de contractions, mais à être couché pour si longtemps, les malaises à Christiane ont commencé à dimininuer.
After a small series of tests, all negative, the doctors were a bit at a loss. Chris was attached to this machine for quite a while where we could hear the baby's heartbeat while checking for contractions. No contractions, but after laying down for so long, Chris' pain started to ease a bit.
Donc vers 22h00, nous sommes finallement sorti de l'hôpital, avec un diagnostic que Christiane avait probablement trop travaillé la journée d'avant. Dimanche, Christiane s'est décidé de finir de peinturer les armoires de cuisine, des cadres de porte (car elle veut peinturer le salon par après), de faire du jardinage, de faire du nettoyage de printemps sur le terrain et un peu de nettoyage de maison. Elle ne s'est pas sentie que c'était trop... mais ce l'était probablement. À partir de maintenant, il va falloir faire ce travail en petite bouchée, pas trop dans une journée. Jean-Michel à trouvé ça pas mal drôle et plaisant que le docteur l'avise de tout ça.
So around 10pm, we finally left the hospital, with the diagnostic that Chris probably over did it the day before. Sunday, she decided to finish painting the kitchen cupboards, some door frames (because she wants to paint the living room afterwards), to do some gardening, some spring cleaning in the yard and a bit of cleaning in the house. She didn't feel as though it was too much... but it probably was given her state the next day. So as of now, she's going to have to do the work in small intervals, not for the whole day, and do shores which consist of less lifting and balancing. JM though it was pretty funny and was pleased to have the doctor advise her of this.
DONC, voilà notre visite à l'hôpital. Fun hein? A part les étudiants en médecine un peu maladroits et les horribles jaquettes d'hôpital, les docteurs et les infirmières étaient vraiment merveilleux et l'expérience n'était pas si pire que cela étant donné les circonstances. Y'avait des femmes enceintes dans les couloirs partout... c'était intéressant. On entendait toutes sortes d'histoires, des césariennes de jumeaux, des accounchements trop tôt, des bédaines qui ne bougeait plus autant, des évaluations de toutes sortes. On espère que notre prochaine visite sera pour l'accouchement, et pas avant!
SO, that was our visite to the hospital. Fun hun? Aside from the awkward interns and the horrible hospital gowns, the doctors and nurses were absolutely wonderful and the experience wasn't that bad considering the circumstances. There were pregnant women all over the place... it was interesting to be there. We'd hear all kinds of stories, c-sections for twins, preterm labour, bellys that wern't moving as much, evaluations of all sorts. We hope our next visit here will be for the delivery, and not before!
