On s'en va à la maison! / We're Going Home!
On se prépare pour aller à la maison dans les photos ci-dessous. Louis-Pascal portait le même petit gilet et bonnet que Jean-Michel à porté lorsqu'il a sorti de l'hopital (merci Sandra!). Et le petit habit blanc, c'est le premier petit pijamas que nous avons recu pour le bébé... de tante Gigi bien sur!
We're getting ready to go home in these pictures. Louis-Pascal was wearing the same little sweater and hat that JM wore when he left the hospital (thanks Sandra!). And the little white outfit, that's the first sleeper we received as a gift for the baby... from very dedicated aunt Gigi of course!

Louis-Pascal est arrivé!!!
Voici le petit poupon dont nous attendions pour 9 mois. Louis-Pascal Guérette DeVink est né le 25 juillet, 2007, à 8h41. Il pèse 7 livres 14 onces, et mesure 51cm (20”) de long. Christiane va bien, malgré que Louis-Pascal est sorti avec une main sur chaque bord de sa tête, ce qui a fait pour une très grosse tête en passant. Voici sa première photo... d'autres suivront.
Well, here is the little one we've been waiting on for 9 months. Louis-Pascal Guérette DeVink was born on July 25th, 2007, at 8:41am. He weighed 7lbs 14oz and measured 51cm (20”) long. Chris is doing very well, despite the fact that Louis-Pascal came out with one hand on each side of his head, which made for a big head to pass. Here is his first picture...more to come later.

Hm-m, no joke. Hier la température était si haute que nous avons placé un nouveau record à Saskatoon, +37 et +46 avec l'humidité. Et non, nous n'avons pas d'air climatisé. Yuck. Mes mains et mes pieds étaient tellement enflés, j'me sentais super pas contente.
Yup, no joke. Yesterday was a record high of +37 in Saskatoon, +46 with the humidity. Ask me if we have air conditioning? NO. My hands and feet were so swollen I looked like the dough-boy.
En tout cas, nous avons eu un rendez-vous chez le médecin hier (avec celle qu'on aime). Tout va bien, même avec un peu d'enflure, il fait tout simplement trop chaud. Bébé ne veut tout simplement pas sortir... qui voudrait avec cette température?
Anyways, we had another Dr.'s appointment yesterday (with the really nice and informative one we like). Everything is fine, even with the bit of swelling, it's just too hot right now. Baby just doesn't want to come out... who would with this weather??
Jean-Michal a un bon plan. Si j'pourrais juste commencer mes contractions, des bonnes contractions c'est à dire, on pourrait se retrouver dans un édifice avec de l'air climatisé pour les prochains 3 jours (l'hopital)!
JM has a great plan, if I could just start my contractions, good ones that is, then we could be in an air conditionned building for the next 3 days (the hospital)! Sounds like a great plan, but baby's not cooperating very well.

Dernière entrevue / Last Interview
Ben, c'était triste ce matin. J'crois j'suis émotionel car j'ai braillé sans arrêt juste à l'écouter. J'ai fait ma dernière entrevue avec Radio-Canada Saskatchewan ce matin, ma dernière petite job avec l'Assemblée communautaire fransaskoise. C'est ce qui va me manquer la plus de la SK...

Rien / Nothing
C'est fou!! Y'a pu rien! Nous avons eu une grosse soirée de contractions deux soirs passés et depuis, rien. zippo. Bébé se contente de bouger dans bédaine et d'y rester. On était tellement excités, et puis le désapointement était intense. Jean-Michel grimpe les murs. ;)

Longue nuit / Long Night
Ce fut une longue nuit, Christiane avait des contractions toute la soirée, qui ont commencé après souper. Elles commencaient à faire mal et elle ne pouvait plus dormir. Pas de visite à l'hopital encore par contre, malgré qu'elles faisaient mal, elle étaient inconsistantes et ne sont jamais allées à 5 minutes d'interval de façon constante... Ce matin, on est un peu fatigué et on attends... on vera comment ça va aujourd'hui.
Last night was a long one. Chris had contractions all night, starting after supper. They were painful this time, although not that bad, but just enough that she couldn't sleep. No visit to the hospital though, as they were inconsistent et did not go to 5 minute intervals consistantly. So we're tired this morning... we'll see how it goes today.

Jour 3 / Day 3
Well, day 3 at home is already boring. If only I had some friends and family to spend time with, it might not be so bad. I just want to spend time with someone and talk it seems. Thank goodness I still have this file from work to finish up to keep busy. I could go weed the garden... and maybe vacum. But that's so boring. Tache and I already had our little daily walk in the morning...
Anyhow, we had another Dr.'s appointment yesterday. Our own Dr. was on vacation so we had a different one and she was GREAT. We're not completely satisfied with the Dr. we have right now. I mean she's nice, means well and she's easy-going, but that's not what I look for in a Dr. I need information, suggestions, advice... I need to know how I'm doing - good, bad, average? We never get any information out of her. Like when she'll take my blood pressure and then not tell me how it is. I ask, she tells me, and I have no clue if that number is good or not, so I have to ask again. Or she'll measure me and not tell me what it is, or if I'm in line. If we do get more info, it's sort of a fluke when we ask a question and then we find out she could have given us the info weeks ago... like if the baby had dropped, she discovered that the appointment before and didn't tell us. Anyhow, you can see I'm getting a bit upset. And if we don't remember to ask for past test results, she won't remember either. Anyways. This Dr. yesterday was great, gave us tones of info and made us really comfortable all at once. She offered advice, told us we did the right thing on a past little event we had, and just made us feel secure that we were on the right track. I was only too happy to book again with her when our own Dr. was booked up for next week. Aside from that... still 1cm dialated and have been forever now, and only 50% effaced... sooooo much more to go it seems. urgh. This heat is getting the better of me lately too, I'm loosing my patience. Only +29 today though!

Congé de maternité / Maternity Leave
Me voilà dans ma première semaine en congé de maternité. Différent. J'étais un peu dérangé hier de ne plus avoir de bureau, de collègues, the travail ou défis. Mais cétait quand même bien de ne pas avoir à faire de décisions, réfléchir à certain dossiers, plannifier ma journée, prioriser et démèler les défis en resources humaines... c'était vraiment un atmosphère de fou là-bas. Si je disais aurevoir à un autre emploi présentement, j'aurais probablement plus de difficulté à rester à la maison tout d'suite, je suis en parti très soulagé de ne plus être là. Mais, je m'ennuie quand même un peu et mes émotions de savent plus ou finir.
Well this is my first week on maternity leave. Very weird. Yesterday I was sort of upset that I no longer had an office, collegues, work, challenges. But it was also ok because I did not have to make any decisions, think about any files, plan my day, strategize, prioritize, deal with crazy HR issues... it was a crazy environment I was in. I'll keep the details off the blog, but a few of you know the "fun" I had. If I was saying goodbye to another job, I might really be missing it right now... but I was sorta thankful no longer to be there. But I still miss work, so my feelings are all over the place.
DONC, j'ai décidé de relaxer un peu. Hier j'ai eu un rendez-vous pour mes cheveux, aujourd'hui c'est le pedicure au spa. Au milieu de tout ça j'me garde occupé avec les papieteries du déménagement et de l'achat d'une nouvelle maison. EN PLUS, j'ai fait le souper! Ok, JM m'a aidé, mais c'est un SÉRIEUX changement pour ceux qui nous connaissent bien. Il aura son souper encore ce soir aussi! Je ne sais pas comment il fait... ma tête y pense toute la journée et je ne sais toujours pas quoi faire. C'est bien plus facile de faire une décision au travail, j'sais pas pourquoi. Lui, il fait ça tellement vite et c'est toujours vraiment bon. Moi, j'essaie vraiment fort et je n'ai jamais un sentiment de satisfaction. Ma satisfaction me vient quand je lave la vaiselle pas après...
SO, I decided to treat myself to a hair appointment yesterday and today is a pedicure day at the spa. In the middle of all that I sorta keep busy with the move and buying of a new house paperwork. AND I made supper for JM. Ok, he helped, but this is a SERIOUS change for those of you who know us well. He can probably expect the same tonight. I don't know how he does it so easily though... my mind is boggled on it all day as to what I should make (and am capable of making). Much harder than making decisions at work, I don't know why. He just whips it up and it's always really good. I try really hard and I never have a sense of satisfaction with it. I get my satisfaction from washing the dishes afterwards...
Et Tache reste à la maison avec moi maintenent au lieu d'aller au travail avec Jean-Michel. Elle n'aime pas ça! Elle m'ignore toute la journée. Les seuls moments d'énergie positive sont quand je l'apporte pour un marche ou quand Jean-Michel arrive. Nice. Oh, et elle s'excite quand le facteur délivre le courrier. Mais moi? J'suis juste la personne qui prends de l'espace et du temps de son amour, Jean-Michel. J'joke. Elle est super fine, mais j'suis surprise qu'elle n'aime pas ça à la maison... ah, peut-être qu'on a quelque chose en commun!
And Tache stays at home with me now as opposed to going to work with JM. She's not loving it. She ignores me the entire day. The only time she lights up is when I take her for a walk or when JM arrives. Very nice. Oh, if she sees the mailperson, then she also gets excited. But me? I'm just that person on the side who takes up space and time from her true love, JM. Kidding. She is a sweetheart, but I am surprised she is not loving staying at home... Ah, we have something in common!
En tout cas... je m'en vais donner un marche à Tache. C'est maintenent une activité qui fait parti de mon horaire le matin. Drôle...I have so much free time!!
Anyways... I'm off to walk the dog. That's now officially part of my schedule in the morning. Funny... I have so much free time!!

Aujourd'hui marque notre 9e anniversaire comme couple... on célebre cette journée un peu plus que notre anniversaire de mariage, probablement parceque c'était plus excitant. ;)
Today marks our 9th anniversary together... we like celebrating that a bit more than our wedding anniversary since it was a bit more exciting. ;)
Mais c'est aussi vendredi le 13 aujourd'hui, et la dernière journée de travail pour Christiane... une expérience qui fut assez folle et intense en même temps. La job était...intéressante...et Christiane avait hâte de partir; la dernière journée était pas mal lourde et elle se sentait pas mal divisé émotionellement. Jean-Michel avait une semaine pas mal occupée et folle aussi, il est tellement occupé dernièrement avec toutes sortes de choses. Il va pêcher demain pour relaxer... avec son chien, des cigars, d'la bière, ça devrait être plaisant pour lui.
But it's also Friday the 13th today, and Chris' last day at work... which was a bit insane and intense all at once. This job has been, interesting, and the last day was a bit heavy. She felt pretty conflicted on a number of issues. JM has also had a crazy week, he's so busy lately with a lot of different things. So he's going fishing tomorrow to relax a bit... he'll have his dog, a few cigars and some beer, so he should be set!
Nous sommes sorti pour souper... des fruits de mers. Mais il fait aussi tellement chaud (+35 je crois!) qu'on a pas grand énergie pour faire autre chose. On joue aux légumes sur le divan. Tache aussi d'ailleurs.
But we went out for supper... seafood. But it's also so insanly hot right now (+35 I think!) that we don't have much energy to do anything else. We're vegging in front of the tv...Tache included.
Christiane commence a être un peu tannée d'avoir cette bédaine, surtout avec cette température. Bébé aime aussi avoir un pied dans ses côtes une bonne partie du temps, qui devient pas mal incomfortable. Mais elle a commencé à avoir des contractions, ou des pratiques de contractions, whatever. Son ventre vient dur-dur et ça fait presque mal, définitement incomfortable et difficile à bouger. Mercredi soir et jeudi toute la journée, elle les avait une après l'autre. On espère vrrrrrrrrrrrrrraiment que ça signifit que ça va arriver bien vite. On commence à être pas mal curieux à voir ce petit poupon et débuter la prochaine étape.
Chris is getting pretty tired of having a big belly, especially in this temperature. Baby is also enjoying having a foot permanently pushed against her rib cage, which is unfomfortable. But she did start having contractions, or practice contractions, whatever they are. Her belly gets really really hard et although she doesn't describe it as really painful, it's really uncomfortable and her movements get limited. Wednesday night and Thursday all day, she had them one after another. We're rrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrreally hoping it means this will happen any day now. We're getting really anxious to see this little thing and to move onto the next step.

Christiane commence a être un peu tannée d'avoir cette bédaine, surtout avec cette température. Bébé aime aussi avoir un pied dans ses côtes une bonne partie du temps, qui devient pas mal incomfortable. Mais elle a commencé à avoir des contractions, ou des pratiques de contractions, whatever. Son ventre vient dur-dur et ça fait presque mal, définitement incomfortable et difficile à bouger. Mercredi soir et jeudi toute la journée, elle les avait une après l'autre. On espère vrrrrrrrrrrrrrraiment que ça signifit que ça va arriver bien vite. On commence à être pas mal curieux à voir ce petit poupon et débuter la prochaine étape.
Chris is getting pretty tired of having a big belly, especially in this temperature. Baby is also enjoying having a foot permanently pushed against her rib cage, which is unfomfortable. But she did start having contractions, or practice contractions, whatever they are. Her belly gets really really hard et although she doesn't describe it as really painful, it's really uncomfortable and her movements get limited. Wednesday night and Thursday all day, she had them one after another. We're rrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrreally hoping it means this will happen any day now. We're getting really anxious to see this little thing and to move onto the next step.

Un matante excitée / An excited aunt
La petite soeur à Christiane, Ghislaine (ou Gigi comme la connaisse la plupart des gens), est déjà une matante très dédiée et passionnée. (Et oui Gigi, même si tu es plus grande que Christiane, tu es quand même sa petite soeur, pas besoin d'en parler dans la section commentaires du blog ou rien.)
Chris' little sister, Ghislaine (or Gigi as most know her), is already a very dedicated and passionate aunt. (And yes Gigi, even though you're taller than Chris, you're still her "little" sister, you won't need to bring that up in the blog commentary or anything.)
Gigi est déjà couturière extraordinaire... certainement meilleure que Chrisiane et pas mal proche à dépasser Cécile. Gigi à déjà fait un sac pour bébé et même des petites bottines. Regardez comment c'est cute!
Gigi is already a seamstress extraordinaire... certainly better at it than Chris et probably making some competition for Cécile. She's already made a bag for the baby and even little booties. Look how cute they are!
Si seulement Gigi était dans la même ville ou pas loin, Christiane prendrait avantage de ses talents plus souvent... Y'a une chambre de bébé à peinturer à Guelph... une couverte et des décorations de chambre... hey, Christiane aurait peut-être même besoin d'une nouvelle robe ou une couverte pour son propre lit! ;)
If only Gigi was in the same city as us, or not too far away, Chris would take advantage of her talents more often. We need a baby room painted in Guelph... a baby blanket pillow etc done... hey, Chris could even use a new dress and even a nice new blanket for her own bed! ;)

I'm a whale / Je suis une baleine
J'suis ronde, j'ai de la difficulté à me grouiller, mon corps on dirait adore retenir de l'eau, je crois que j'continue à grossir... j'dois être une baleine. Y'a pas de bébé là dedans, j'suis juste un boule de blubber. En tout cas, c'est comme ça que j'me sens dans les photos ci-jointe. Et encore une fois, des photos de moi dans mon linge relax. J'vous jure que j'ai du beau linge (j'dépense trop d'argent sur ça...), mais Jean-Michel semble aimer ça me photographier quand je n'ai pas l'gout.
Well, I'm round, I feel like all I can do is flop around, my body seems to love to retain water, I think I keep getting bigger... I must be a whale. There's no baby in there, I'm just a ball of blubber. I feel like a beached whale in these pictures... And once again, just more pictures of me in my lazy clothes. I swear, I do have really nice clothes (I spent enough money on it!), but JM for some reason likes to catch me at my worse, or at least when I feel I'm at my worse.

Il fait tellement chaud aujourd'hui... +33 degré celcius! On dirait que c'est impossible de se rafraichir... j'vais dormir dans le sous-sol ce soir.
It's so hot today... +33 degres celcius!! I'm ready to pass out, it's impossible to cool off it seems. I'm sleeping in the basement tonight.
D'un autre coté, Jean-Michel a imprimé et collé sa thèse aujourd'hui pour envoyer aux évaluateurs externes - c'était pas mal beau à même toucher! On aurait célébré avec un bonne bouteille de vin... mais avec bédaine, on est allé pour de la crème glacé au lieu. Presque finit!! Jean-Michel est parti à une conférence en Alberta en fin de semaine, bédaine est mieux de ne pas vouloir petter avant son retour...
On another note, JM printed off and binded his thesis yesterday to send for external evaluation - it was pretty nice to even just to touch it! We would have celebrated with a nice bottle of wine... but considering belly, we wen't for ice cream instead. Almost there! JM is gone to a conference in Alberta this weekend...so belly better stay put until he gets back...

Sold! / Vendu!
2 heures après notre dernier open house (lundi le 2), notre maison s'est vendu. C'est à condition, date limite le 13 juillet, mais c'est pas mal excitant. Un peu de va et vient entre certains offres d'achat, et la maison s'est vendu de façon à nous donner un beau gros profit et en plus, $20,000 par dessus le prix de demande. Very nice, surtout parcequ'on s'est essayé sans un agent immobilier. C'était un peu stressant vers la fin, mais on s'est bien débrouillé j'crois. Le marché à Saskatoon nous a permis de le faire de cette façon, et ça nous a vraiment aidé.

With a bit of bidding from a few offers at the end, the house finally with a nice big profit for us AND, $20,000 over the asking price. We were pretty excited since we went without a real estate agent as well. It was a bit stressful at the end, but we managed well I think. The market in Saskatoon made it easy for us to do it this way, and really put us in a nice position.
Donc le magasinage de maison à Guelph commence à être le fun. A date nous avons réservé un townhosue jusqu'au 13 juillet, pour ensuite faire un offre plus solid à ce moment. La propriété set présentement en construction, mais elle devrait être prêtre pour le mois d'octobre. Nous avons décidé c'aller avec cette achat car c'est nouveau tout en y déménager relativement tôt, car nous ne pouvont pas visiter la maison avant l'achat. Ca devrait aussi être un bon investissement avec l'endroit etc., donc nous espérons faire un autre profit lorsequ'on déménagera à nouveau dans 1.5/2 ans. Donc ce devrait être assez facile à court terme...
So the house shopping in Guelph has been fun. So far we have reserved a townhouse until July 13, where we hope to put in a solid offer at that point. The property is currently being built, should be ready for October. We decided to go with this new property while also being able to move in relatively soon, as won't have the chance to see it in person before we buy it, so this should be pretty safe. It's also a good investment with the location etc, so we hope to make another profit once we move again in 1.5/2 years. It should be very easy maintenance for something short term...which we look forward to!
Ah oui, et Christiane a eu un autre rendez-vous chez le médecin aujourd'hui... tout va encore très bien. la chaleur commence à être insupportable par contre, nous aimerions vraiment que ce petit poupon arrive bien vite... demain même! Avez-vous des trucks ridicules pour faire avancer le processus un peu plus vite??
Oh, and Chris had another doctor's appointment today... everything is still good. The heat is starting to become unbearable, and we're really hoping this little thing could just come tomorrow. Anycarzy tips on how to induce labour??
